Recipe: Bol-gol-gi (Korean bbq beef) + fried rice Korean food certainly does not get the attention Chinese, Thai, or Japanese food does. Why is that? It's just as tasty, and many of the dishes are easier to make. And given that their climate is about the same as Chicago's, Korea and Chicago must be sister cities. Below is a recipe for bol-gol-gi (Korean bbq), bbq'd sliced beef. My mom makes it whenever I come for a visit. B likes it even more than I do! Ingredients 1 lb Sirloin tips sliced very thin, about 1/8" (best to do this when meat is not all-the-way thawed; slice with a chefs knife dipped in hot water) Marinade * 1 tbsp sugar * 2 minced scallions * 1 tbsp sherry * 2 cloves minced garlic * 2 tblsn soy sauce * black pepper * 2 tbsp sesame oil Read more >> http://jumpbean.com/1-773-562-6093/recipes/bolgolgi0805.htm Fried Rice And the best way to use your leftover bol-gol-gi is to put it in friend rice. This is not your run-of-the-mill fried rice. It's not doused in soy sauce, and it doesn't have so many veggies that you can't even taste the rice. Fried rice is a simple dish that is loved by the emperor as much as the peasants. Simple and tasty. Ingredients * leftover bol gol gi meat, sliced into thin strips (same size for even cooking) * day-old rice (you can't make fried rice with freshly-cooked rice) * 1 scallion * 1 beaten egg * 1 clove garlic * ginger slices * 2-3 tbsp Peanut oil (or canola, but please, not olive) * soy sauce * bell peppers or carrots (optional) cut into thin strips about 1-2 inches long (same size for even cooking) * 1 tblsn Asian chili sauce (optional; no, salsa is not the same thing!)
